Nose Hill Park

Nose Hill Park is a Natural Environment park that covers 1127 hectares of north west Calgary. The views from the top of Nose Hill park are worth the walk, offering 360 degrees of unobstructed views of the city of Calgary and the Rocky Mountains.

What You Need to Know

Dogs must be on leash till you reach the off leash area at the top of the hill. There is no water up there so bring your own on hot summer days. This area is very popular, approximately 550 visitors each week, so you will meet other people and other dogs. On clear days the views of the city of Calgary and the magnificent Rocky Mountains are outstanding.

It is home to native fescue grasslands such as rare Rough Fescue and Parry Oat grass. It is also home to more than 136 bird species and 27 species of mammals. The park is currently undergoing rehabilitation to reclaim area eroded and destroyed by over 300 km of informal trails formed over many years. To maintain the natural integrity of the park, it is important to stay on the trails except in the designated off-trail and off leash area at the top of the hill.
